This is too close to being a reality to be considered a racial dystopia, but it's a macabre scenario that ran through my mind when I heard politicians respond to a sick tragedy by trying to create a new market for guns sales.
As a teacher; please remember that the experiences of teachers who are people of color are way different than the experience of a white teacher. This is one hypothetical... equally sad and entirely realistic would be a black teacher whose concealed firearm turns them into the next victim of police brutality. Not to mention the disproportionate excuse-making politicians make for white serial murderers; and the word terrorist as basically a racial slur.
As an American, I also would like to add that - while it's completely morally obvious that gun control is needed - your stance on this issue doesn't make sense if it is coupled with turning a blind eye to arming war criminals and colonizers all over the world. Brown people are people too; when you pay billions to arm Israel (and other racist countries) and stand idly by while Palestinians are killed by weapons you produced and shipped that counts as a school massacre over and over and over again, so please consider being morally consistent in your zealous energy to do something peaceful. (and of course, Israel is only one of many examples of international violence that the average American doesn't necessarily care about but are actually collectively responsible for).
