Forsake on a Plane

Don't let the hashtag fool you, I absolutely do not believe in reverse racism. Reverse racism is a joke; hence this cartoon portraying it. Racism carries such a negative and nasty connotation in this era that it should be reserved exclusively to describe the system of institutions and historical structures that materially have held people of color to a status of inferiority as those systems literally exist today (not as they either hypothetically would exist - like in instances of my cartoon - nor as they insignificantly exist when people of color are prejudiced against other people yet have no systematic power with which to enforce that sense of 'superiority,' so it plays out pathetically for them).

The reality of racism (which lived experience has shown me) is that we often have to carry the weight of everything "our people" ever did on our backs and frequently have to quench people's thirst for answers about our "mysterious" identity. I can't honestly say that I've ever been yelled at and made to renounce a terrorist group on an airplane (I have been asked to renounce terrorism on multiple occasions in other places, naturally), but I have had some awful conversations with white people on airplanes, which inspired this one.

It's fun for me to put images in the world which imagine if white people were asked to regularly speak on and renounce all the crimes their "race" has ever collectively committed, or if white people like Leopold the 2nd (who killed over 10 million people in the Congo) and Adolph Hitler were made to be the eternal representatives of all white people (the way I bet the top 5 Arabs people know about are either dictators or terrorists).
