Sci-Fi Dystopia Closer Than We Think...

Writer's picture: HZakhariaHZakharia

It's always fun to imagine some dystopic future where technological advances we take for granted run amok. As one of the earliest of millennials, I remember a time when computers and technology were a cool and significant part of my childhood that brought much wonder and excitement, but were still niche enough that not everyone (and, literally, they mamas) relied on them for maintaining and organizing their entire social world. So much has changed since then, and now the world's biggest corporations (their size is enough to earn them titles as innovators and heroes of capitalism) are companies whose CORE or most basic ideas are really not all that revolutionary or interesting, only the scope with which people conduct their business on them and trust and rely on them. So really, they're just re-working US as resources; in comparison to the kind of capitalism that is more reliant on natural resources or tangible material based innovations.
